After Johannesburg and Cape Town the successful presentation of Iluminando Vidas in the National Art Gallery of Namibia in Windhoek closed the tour of the exhibition through Southern Africa which has given a big impact to the Mozambican photography with different important feedbacks. As in South Africa a large public payed attention to the exhibition in Namibia. The most important medias of the country reported about it. One of the highlights was another live television interview with Rui Assubuji by NBC in Good Morning Namibia (see press clippings). The exhibition is stored at the CDFF in Maputo at the moment. Iluminando Vidas in Nampula, Mozambique: Another nice success! For the second time in Mozambique, Iluminando Vidas was shown in Nampula in the Museu Nacional de Etnologia - MUSET with a big public interest. The Mozambican medias (see press clippings) payed again special attention to the opening which was accompanied by a traditional dance group and visited by the Swiss Ambassador Rudolf Baerfuss and by the Governor of Nampula Province, Abdul Razak. Three photographers, Ricardo Rangel, João Costa (Funcho) and Alfredo Mueche (the president of AMF), held workshops and conferences with local students and classes. Impressions... |

Ricardo Rangel cultural personality of 2003 Ricardo Rangel was elected in Mozambique by the weekly SAVANA as cultural personality of the year 2003, also thanks ILUMINANDO VIDAS: "O cultural do SAVANA elegou por unanimidade o fotojournalista Ricardo Rangel como a figura cultural do presente ano. O decano dos fotógrafos moçambicanos anda nas lides fotográficas desde o longíncuo ano de 1952. Iluminando Vidas in Maputo: a full success (Zurich, August, 2003) Iluminando Vidas was shown for the first time in Mozambique with a big public success: accompanied by the swinging Grupo de Jazz de Maputo the atmospheric opening was joined by 300400 persons. During the 4 weeks more than 1'900 persons visited the exhibition. The medias, TV and Radio Stations and the Press reported largely about Iluminando Vidas (see Press Clippings). Impressions... Exhibition Tour: Switzerland, Mozambique and Africa (Zurich, August, 2003) Iluminando Vidas is a travelling exhibition. It has been shown successfully at three venues in Switzerland: from 13.419.5.2002 in the PhotoforumPasquArt in Biel/Bienne, from 8.6.21.7.2002 in the Museo Cantonale d’Arte in Lugano, and from 29.11.15.12.2002 at the School of Art and Design in Basel (SfG Basel). Iluminando Vidas was shown equally successfully from 26.4.25.5.2003 for the first time in Mozambique in Maputo at the gallery of the Associação Moçambicana de Fotografia (AMF). | Photofesta 2002 in Maputo from Oct 15 to Nov 15, 2002 (Zurich, October 2002) From October 15 to November 15, 2002 Maputo will host an event called Photofesta, as part of the comemorations of the tenth anniversary of the peace agreement signature. The event is co-organized by AMF (the Mozambican Association of Photographers), CDFF (Photographic Training and Documentation Centre) and CCFM (the French/Mozambican Cultural Centre) and comprises 12 photo exhibitions. It covers issues related to Mozambican history from the last century up to the present and includes a workshop on the topic 'Indian Ocean, the land and the people' as well as a whole series of events and exhibitions in various locations in the vicinity of Maputo such as Xipamanine, Matendene, Catembe and Matola.
