Alfredo Paco
Alfredo Paco was born in 1961 in LM, now Maputo. Alfredo Paco comes from Bela Vista in the province of Maputo, where his mother was engaged in subsistence agriculture while his father spent a good deal of time in neighbouring South Africa working in agricultural plantations. As a boy he worked as a cattleherd for a few years before moving to the capital and finishing his studies at the Francisco Manyanga Secondary School. He began his photographic career in 1981 at ICS, and in 1984 he studied at CFF. He also trained to produce audiovisual presentations at ICS, where in 1985 he learned to work with C41-Ektaprint and E6-Cibachrome. His work has been featured in a number of audiovisual presentations and published in publications including 'O Campo', 'Tempo', 'Domingo', 'Notícias' and 'Diário de Moçambique'. He has also participated in a number of workshops and collective exhibitions in Mozambique. He lives in Maputo and continues to work as photographer for ICS.
