The Richness of Mozambican Photography
The main objective of the exhibition is to explore the richness of Mozambican photography and to highlight the cultural achievement it represents. The project aims at giving Mozambican photography a new lasting impetus that will promote continuation of a remarkable photographic tradition. It wants to serve as a platform for opening up an intercultural discourse, particularly with the North, as well as for the forming of economic relations. Another objective is to strengthen the solidarity and team spirit within the AMF and to improve its position within Mozambican society.

The idea of the exhibition originated in the small non-governmental organisation Club of Mozambique COM in Zurich, Switzerland. As the COM is not in a position to finance projects of this scale, it was fortunate that the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC could be engaged as the main partner.

Project manager and curator Bruno Z'Graggen is responsible for the concept and realization. Co-curator Grant Lee Neuenburg, an American photographer who has been living in Maputo for over nine years, also played a key role in the realization of the project. He acted as an on-site representative of the project manager and curator in Maputo, took part in conceptual decisions and managed the production of exhibition prints. Bruno Z'Graggen and Grant Lee Neuenburg also acted as editors of the exhibition catalogue.

The exhibition was realized in close cooperation with Hans Schilt (SDC-cultural attaché in Maputo), the CDFF, the AMF, the participating photographers, and other project partners such as exhibition venues, publishers and Schools of Art and Design (Workshop).
